Job Description / Duties
Position Overview
The Commercial Lines Insurance Broker is responsible for delivering expert advice and comprehensive insurance solutions to commercial clients. This role includes assessing risks, negotiating with insurers, managing policy lifecycles, and maintaining strong, ongoing client and underwriter relationships. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound technical knowledge, professional communication, and a client-first approach.
Key Responsibilities
• Advise and service a portfolio of commercial clients by assessing risks and recommending appropriate coverage solutions.
• Develop and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients, insurers, and underwriters.
• Prepare and manage quotes, new business, renewals, endorsements, and policy changes with efficiency and accuracy.
• Identify new business opportunities while supporting retention and growth of the existing portfolio.
• Negotiate with underwriters to secure competitive terms and ensure clients receive suitable coverage options.
• Guide clients through the claims process and act as a liaison with insurance partners.
• Maintain accurate, compliant documentation within the brokerage management system and adhere to regulatory requirements.
• Stay informed on market trends, underwriting guidelines, and industry developments to effectively advise clients.
• Assist with developing or refining procedures to support efficient brokerage operations.
Qualifications / Required Skills
• Experience in Commercial or General Insurance with a strong understanding of Saskatchewan’s commercial market.
• Saskatchewan insurance license (Level 2) or eligibility to obtain.
• Solid knowledge of commercial insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk assessment.
• Strong client-service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with insurance management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• CAIB or CIP coursework or designation considered an asset.
• Excellent communication, organization, and client-service skills.
• Ability to work independently while supporting team objectives.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
