Michel Falcon wrote the book on building people-first cultures — literally. He is the author of People-First Culture: Build a Lasting Business by Shifting Your Focus from Profits to People, which was lauded by Howard Behar, the former president of Starbucks, as the definitive guide “to build a profitable and admired company.” In this presentation, Michel will share the same actionable strategies he has used in his own high-touch, fast-paced hospitality businesses to create a customer experience so good, it seems like cheating.

Brett Boadway, executive director of the Canadian Association of Managing General Agents, will talk about the common myths and misconceptions around MGAs, how brokerages can better leverage MGAs to meet the needs of customers, and where she believes the MGA industry is heading over the next 3 – 5 years.
Buying Technology Better

A recent study found that two-thirds of brokerages believe insurtech vendors overstate ROI promises. Breaking through the noise to choose the right solution for the right problem is harder than ever before. Steve Pieroway — a former executive with Policy Works, Applied Systems, and Trufla — will explain what’s underpinning that trust gap, and what brokerages can do to increase their chances of ROI success when selecting new technology.

Sarah Wells made her Olympic debut as a hurdler for Team Canada at the London 2012 Summer Games — qualifying despite being sidelined for nine months with a stress fracture in her left femur. Months later, she reaggravated that injury, but bounced back again to capture her fourth Canadian title in 2015 and then win a pair of medals at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. Drawing on her journey as an elite athlete, Wells will invite attendees to reframe the way they think about challenges and setbacks, and will outline three powerful approaches to embrace life’s detours and turn them into stepping stones both personally and in the workplace.

The program will include the presentation of the 8th annual Community Leadership Award and entertainment from The Debaters Live — a one-of-a-kind comedy show that is part stand-up, part quiz, and part comedy competition, with four of the country’s top comics, including Steve Patterson and (yes, again) Dave Hemstad!

Hotel accommodations: Hotel details, including booking links, will be included in the confirmation e-mail that is automatically sent to each delegate upon registration. Rooms at the host venue will go fast, so be sure to reserve early.
Cancellation policy: Cancellations made on or prior to September 15 will be automatically refunded to the method of payment. IBAS may be unable to provide refunds after September 15.
Early-bird registration draw: Register as a full delegate by July 15 and be entered to win a $1,000 travel voucher courtesy of Intact Insurance.
Continuing education: IBAS members licensed in Saskatchewan are eligible to receive up to four (4) CE credit hours.
