Information Session: IBAS Indigenous Broker Development Program
June 3, 2025
Applications for the new IBAS Indigenous Broker Development Program are set to open on Monday, June 2.
This pilot program, launched in partnership with SGI CANADA, will reimburse approved brokerages up to $25,000 in eligible costs related to the recruitment, onboarding, and training of licensed property and casualty insurance brokers of First Nations, Métis, or Inuit heritage.
Submissions for the initial intake will be reviewed beginning the week of June 30. Therefore, although there is no definitive deadline for applications, those fielded by June 30 will receive first consideration.
To assist IBAS brokerage members in both understanding the details of this innovative program and in preparing an application for funding, IBAS will be hosting a one-hour information session from 10 – 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3 (via Zoom videoconference).
At this session, program representatives from IBAS will be reviewing:
- What expenses are eligible for funding;
- Program and funding parameters;
- The application process, including how applications are evaluated;
- Reporting requirements; and
- Ongoing supports available through the program.
Although the program is designed to be 'outcomes-based' and flexible in its delivery with limited administrative burden on brokerage employers, program integrity is of the utmost importance. This session will put IBAS members in the best possible position to apply for — and maximize the potential of — the program.
