Based on expressions of interest from members, the IBAS board of directors has appointed the association’s Emerging Brokers Council for the 2022 calendar year, including Chair Nicole Crump of Affinity Insurance and Talsa Warken of Western Financial Group.

Longtime Regina-based insurance broker Judy McCuskee has been named the recipient of the 2021 IBAS Community Leadership Award, presented by Saskatchewan Blue Cross. The announcement was made at the association’s annual general meeting on October 14.

As part of its 2021 #BrokersCare Campaign for Mental Health, IBAS has earmarked $7,500 for the Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge at Cowessess First Nation. The contribution is being matched by IBAS member Westland Insurance, for a total donation of $15,000.

IBAS is currently accepting expressions of interest to join its board of directors. The nominations committee will put forward a slate of candidates for vote at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on October 14 in Saskatoon. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on September 22. IBAS is also looking for volunteers to join its new Rural Brokerage Advisory Committee.

Caralyn Engbers of the Regina Christian School has been named the recipient of the $5,000 IBAS Young Community Leaders Bursary, presented in partnership with Red River Mutual. Emily Ives of Saskatoon, meanwhile, was honoured with the $1,500 IBAS Chair’s Award.
