CAIB New Edition 1.0
CAIB New Edition 1.0 is a national initiative led by the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) to modernize, standardize, and strengthen broker education across Canada.
CAIB New Edition 1.0 introduces updated textbooks, digital textbooks, e-learning courses, and new exams across all four CAIB modules. The content is contemporary, easier to understand, and designed to reflect the realities of today’s brokers.
Content
CAIB New Edition 1.0 features improved, expanded, and modernized content with simplified language, improved flow, and enhanced visuals. All modules include scenario-based learning and questions that reinforce understanding and real-world application with the goal of making learning more relevant, accessible, and effective.
Textbook Updates
- Module introductions, learning objectives, and summaries;
- Key term definitions and chapter glossaries;
- Diagrams and visual learning aids;
- Scenario-based learning notes and examples; and
- Module quizzes with answers.
Digital Textbook
- Available for 364 days from the date of purchase;
- Multi-device access with syncing; and
- Study, annotation, and offline capabilities.
E-Courses
Each CAIB module (CAIB 1 – 4) includes a self-paced online course, ranging from 15 – 25 hours in length. E-courses feature interactive content, quizzes, and glossaries, and are ideal for students who prefer independent study.
Parallel Delivery
The current CAIB program (2011 Edition) and CAIB New Edition 1.0 will run in parallel for 18 months, from February 2026 to July 2027. This approach reflects feedback from IBAS brokerage principals and senior leaders.
Mixing modules between versions is permitted with one exception: CAIB 2 and CAIB 3 must be completed in the same version for licensing and designation purposes. All completed modules — current or new — count toward the CAIB designation, provided CAIB 2 and 3 are completed in the same iteration.
