To be able to apply for a Level 1 License, you will need a total of 4 exams.
The exams can be taken in any order, but it is required that you become licensed within one (1) calendar year from the time of the 1st passed exam. Failure to apply for a licence in the time frame will result in the exam marks being voided. |

Exams can be registered in two ways. IBAS Member Exams For IBAS Members, please navigate to the IBAS EduHub to access the Auto Part I, Auto Part II, General Bylaws, Auto Bylaws, Fundamentals of Insurance, and CAIB New Edition 1.0 exams and courses. https://ibaseducation.skillbuilder.co/ CAIB (2011) Edition and Non-Member Exams For CAIB (2011 Edition) exams, or non member, or to register for a an online exam, please follow the steps below.

Each IBAS exam is unique, please see the below breakdowns of each to fully understand each format. Auto Part I and Auto Part II These are two-hour long, multiple-choice exams. The exams cost $275+GST each or are free to IBAS members on the IBAS EduHub. https://www.ibas.ca/restricted-auto.html General Bylaws and Auto Bylaws These are a one-hour long, multiple-choice exams that are open book. The exam costs $100+GST or is free to IBAS members on the IBAS EduHub. https://www.ibas.ca/GICS-bylaws.html Fundamentals of Insurance This is a 2.5-hour long, multiple-choice exam. The exam costs $250+GST. https://www.ibas.ca/fundamentals-of-insurance.html CAIB 1 - 3 (2011 Edition) These are 3.5-hour long exams with multiple-choice, definition, and short-answer questions. The exam costs $450+GST. CAIB 4 (2011 Edition) This is a 3.5 hour long exam with long-answer questions. The exam costs $450+GST. CAIB 1 - 4 New Edition 1.0 These are 3.5-hour long exams with multiple-choice, definition, and short-answer questions. AIB New Edition 1.0 can be purchased on the new IBAS EduHub. Prices vary. |

To change your exam date, please contact the IBAS education team at education@ibas.ca. You will need to request the change and you may be required to submit a new proctor form. All exams can be deferred once at no cost, further deferrals will result in a deferral fee. |
Where can I locate a receipt for my exam? Posted on May 15, 2025 |
CAIB New Edition 1.0 and IBAS Member Exams Exam receipts can be found on the IBAS EduHub, under the Orders section in your account. CAIB (2011 Edition) and Non-Member Exams Exam receipts can be found here. You will need the confirmation code that was sent to you upon registration from Captus Press. The code will have your last name and a string of numbers behind it. |

An IBAS account can be created in a few ways, either your brokerage manager can create it or request an account for you, the IBAS team can create an account for you by contacting them at community@ibas.ca, or you can create a guest account by clicking here. |
