CAIB 1 Immersion (e-Delivery via Zoom)

December 3 - 9, 2022

During the pandemic, IBAS and our partners at West Coast Training had to quickly come up with a 'new normal’ for the delivery of our popular CAIB Immersion training. Through an innovative approach to digital engagement, we were able to replicate the same quality of learning and student experience that you would ordinarily receive in the classroom, but using the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Students found this model to be both effective and convenient.

Our lead instructor, Todd Hochban, continues to mix his trademark instruction style with interactive assignments and other breakout sessions to ensure students are fully prepared to write the CAIB 1 exam. And the proof is in the data. Last year, 96% of CAIB 1 Immersion students successfully passed the exam, compared to only 64% of self-study students.

Special December 2022 Intake

To provide our members with maximum flexibility and education options, we have partnered with the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba to offer a joint, special December 2022 delivery of our online CAIB 1 Immersion course.

This intake will run December 3 – 9, 2022. There will be a short orientation at 6:30 p.m. on December 3, followed by classes running Sunday through Friday, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (SK time).

Please note that there will not be a dedicated exam day. The exam will need to be administered by a qualified proctor or through IBAS at a later date. All exams must be completed before March 1, 2023. Any student who does not complete the exam within that timespan will lose the ability to write the exam and will not be eligible for a refund.

THE COURSE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS 2 P.M. ON NOVEMBER 28, 2022.

What equipment will I need?

Other than the CAIB 1 textbook, which must be purchased separately, all you need to take advantage of this option is a computer with reliable internet access. For individuals who may have slower connection speeds, you may choose to mute your computer speakers and microphone and use telephone-based audio (although you would continue to leverage the visual aspect of the delivery).

A webcam is mandatory to participate in the CAIB Immersion course.

Registered Participant Agreement

By registering for the online CAIB 1 Immersion Course, you are agreeing to refrain from the following activities:

  • Recording of the course by any means, even for personal use;
  • Displaying or sharing the course with unregistered participants; and
  • Sharing the course link to unregistered participants.

Government Funding Support

Insurance brokerages in Saskatchewan may be eligible to take advantage of various government support programs to offset the cost of training.

The Re-Skill Saskatchewan Training Subsidy provides eligible employers reimbursement of up to 100% of direct costs related to IBAS CAIB 1, CAIB 2, and CAIB 3 Immersion courses.

The Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant, meanwhile, provides eligible employers reimbursement ranging between 2/3 and 5/6 of eligible costs.

IBAS staff have deep experience with these programs and are available to advise members through the application process.
