Join us on Thursday, October 17, at the historic Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina for the can’t-miss insurance event of the year. Delegates will learn from one another’s experiences, network with industry decision-makers, celebrate broker achievements, and have a direct voice in shaping IBAS’s advocacy and operational priorities. All broker members are eligible to receive five CE credit hours.

Before the Event

IBAS pleased to offer members and partners two new opportunities to connect before the summit, on Wednesday, October 16:

Reservable Dinner Tables

Members and partners registered for the summit can reserve tables in advance for the purpose of hosting broker-partner dinner meetings or team dinners. These tables will be located in the Dining Room & The Burrow of the Hotel Saskatchewan, and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis for one seating time only (5 – 7:30 p.m.). A full supper menu will be available. Reservations may be made in advance via OpenTable by clicking the above link. Please note reservations require a non-refundable deposit of $25 per seat.

#BrokersCare Banger Bingo

This is quite possibly the most fun you will ever have at an insurance event! Part bingo night, part comedy gameshow, and part rock-and-roll dance party, Banger Bingo is an immersive mash-up of fun, laughter, prizes, cold drinks, and great tunes. All proceeds go directly to the #BrokersCare Community Fund. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Separate registration is required by clicking the above link. Tickets are $75 each (plus tax), and include a 'late night lunch' and one complimentary drink ticket.

IBAS President & CEO Derek Lothian will be joined by some of the sector’s most high-profile guests to discuss the trends and challenges impacting both brokers and carriers across Saskatchewan and beyond.

12 – 1:45 p.m.: Keynote Luncheon: 'Embracing Uncertainty'
Regency Ballroom  |  Sponsored by Intact Insurance

In 2019, Sam Goodwin was wrongfully accused of espionage and taken hostage in Syria while on a journey to travel to every country in the world. Both the U.S. government and intelligence officials doubted whether he’d ever be seen alive again.

Back home, Goodwin’s family built up a network of journalists, hostage negotiators, Middle East experts, diplomats, Vatican envoys, and mercenaries, until eventually — by nothing short of a miracle — they found a secret backdoor into the heart of the Syrian intelligence service itself.

Today, Goodwin is a thought leader on uncertainty and an in-demand speaker. His incredible journey of survival illustrates the extraordinary power of the human spirit and has inspired audiences around the world. In a genuine, straightforward, and sometimes humorous style, Goodwin draws on his experiences to demonstrate how to turn adversities into assets and reflects on the challenges we all face in a world where borders may divide us, but our shared humanity unites us. He also attributes the mental toughness, critical thinking, and resilience garnered through a life of competitive sport as crucial to his survival as a hostage.

Goodwin earned his bachelor’s degree from Niagara University, as well as his master’s degree from Washington University, and is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He is also an entrepreneur who co-founded a tech startup business and regional NGO in Singapore.

1:45 – 2 p.m.: Grand Prize Draw
Regency Ballroom  |  Sponsored by Saskatchewan Blue Cross

You won’t want to miss our biggest prize draw ever! Immediately following the luncheon, we will be selecting one lucky winner, who will receive a prize package valued at $10,000 — plus a $2,500 donation to the not-for-profit or community cause of their choice. But there is a catch: You must be present, in the room at the time of the draw, to win — no exceptions!

2:30 – 4:30 p.m.: Member Policy Congress (Broker Members Only)
Regency Ballroom  |  Sponsored by Red River Mutual

Have your say on the future of Saskatchewan’s P&C insurance industry in the first-ever IBAS Member Policy Congress. This is an interactive, members-only forum where brokerage leaders will come together to discuss and ultimately vote upon key IBAS advocacy directives and policy priorities.

4:30 – 6:30 p.m.: Saskatchewan Craft Beer & Spirits Showcase
Convention Level  |  Sponsored by FIRST Insurance Funding of Canada

Sample world-class products from some of Saskatchewan’s leading craft brewers and distillers while catching up with partner exhibitors.

6:30 – 10:30 p.m.: Chair's Banquet & Comedy Night
Regency Ballroom  |  Sponsored by Wawanesa Insurance & SGI CANADA

This year’s featured evening theme is Hometown Heroes. Whether it be an old high school letterman jacket, a Rotary Club golf shirt, a jersey from an iconic local sports legend, or something in between, throw on an outfit that reflects your hometown pride! The program will include:

  • Dinner entertainment from local guitar legend, Jack Semple;
  • Presentation of the 30-year IBAS Broker Service Awards;
  • Honouring the recipient of the 6th annual #BrokersCare Community Leadership Award; and
  • A performance by Canadian stand-up comedy sensation, Dave Hemstad.

9:30 p.m.: Exhibitor Booths Close
Convention Level

10:30 p.m.: CEO's Social
Circa 21 Lounge & Dining Room (Lobby Level)

The night’s not over yet! Head on downstairs to enjoy complimentary beverages and reconnect with partners and peers from across the industry.
