IBAS Technology Advisory Committee

Beginning November 2025

IBAS is currently searching for 4 – 8 individuals to form an ad-hoc IBAS Technology Advisory Committee. This is a time-limited committee, intended to be operational from November 2025 – December 2026, with two distinct purposes: to advise IBAS management in the identification and pursuit of association activities and/or services that would support brokerage technology use (including the potential creation of a dedicated tech-focused IBAS event in 2026); and, to shape IBAS input into national tech-oriented advocacy files.

  • While the frequency and format of this committee will ultimately be shaped by committee members, management expects most meetings/correspondence to be facilitated virtually, with a required commitment of roughly 1 – 2 hours per month.
  • The term will run from November 2025 through the end of December 2026.
  • Any related expenses will be reimbursed by IBAS.
  • Interested candidates should have a good grasp of brokerage technology, as well as an interest in emerging platforms, opportunities, and related challenges.
  • One individual from the committee may be appointed as IBAS’s representative on the IBAC Technology Committee beginning in September 2026.

IBAS Emerging Brokers Council

Beginning January 2026

Established in 2019, the Emerging Brokers Council (EBC) is a member advisory committee with an important mandate to ensure the unique perspectives of young and emerging insurance brokers are represented in IBAS activities, within IBAS policy directives, and at industry functions. The group also promotes the insurance broker profession as a modern, rewarding, first-choice career, and champions engagement in #BrokersCare Community Fund initiatives.

  • Terms are one-year in length, to a maximum of six consecutive terms.
  • Must be under the age of 40 or have spent five or fewer years as a licensed broker as of January 1, 2026.
  • Although meetings are typically held remotely, the EBC generally holds 2 – 3 in-person meetings per year — including around the IBAS Golf Tournament and IBAS Leaders Summit.
  • IBAS reimburses EBC members for related travel expenses.

General Insurance Council of Saskatchewan

Beginning January 2026

IBAS is responsible for nominating four appointees to the General Insurance Council of Saskatchewan (GICS). GICS operates under the authority delegated by the Superintendent of Insurance to regulate and licence P&C insurance agents, general insurance adjusters, managing general agents, restricted travel insurance agents, crop hail insurance agents/adjusters, and third-party administrators. There is one vacancy to fill effective January 2026.

  • Must hold a valid licence in Saskatchewan and be in good standing with the Insurance Councils of Saskatchewan (i.e. no recent disciplinary history or outstanding compliance matters).
  • GICS typically meets four times per year.
  • Meetings are most often held in Regina; however, virtual participation is available where appropriate.
  • Terms are three years in length, to a maximum of two consecutive terms.
  • A general understanding of the role of a regulatory body and its legislative mandate is preferred.
  • GICS reimbursees members for travel expenses.

Observer to the IBAC Board of Directors

Beginning January 2026

The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) represents the collective interests of 11 member associations, including IBAS, and focuses on four primary pillars: federal advocacy, professional development, technology, and promotion of the broker channel.

  • Observers are non-voting appointees of member associations who attend IBAC board meetings, engage in national discussions, and support the work of the directors and provincial CEOs.
  • Individuals putting their name forward for this role should be willing to strongly consider standing for appointment to the IBAC board of directors in September 2026. Saskatchewan’s director on the IBAC board also serves as an observer (non-voting full participant) to the IBAS board.
  • National travel is required. There are 2026 meetings scheduled for January 25 – 27 (Toronto), May 24 – 26 (Ottawa), and September 22 – 24 (Dakota Dunes). Observer travel expenses are reimbursed directly by IBAS.

IBAS Board of Directors

Beginning April 2026

The IBAS board of directors is responsible for ensuring effective association governance, setting and monitoring organizational strategy, and overseeing the performance of the president and CEO. Due to three director terms expiring in 2027, IBAS is looking to proactively add 1 – 2 directors to the board in 2026. IBAS strives to maintain a board comprised of qualified and committed directors with a diverse mix of experience, skills, and backgrounds collectively reflecting the strategic needs of IBAS as well as the members and communities it serves.

  • There are usually four in-person meetings per year — not including the Annual General Meeting in April (to coincide with the SGI Convention). Additional, ad-hoc meetings (both in-person and by videoconference) may be required from time to time.
  • Terms are two years in length, to a maximum of three consecutive terms.
  • Travel throughout the province in required. IBAS reimburses directors for travel expenses.
  • Directors receive complimentary attendance to the annual CAIB Graduates Dinner and Leaders Summit.
